What we aim to teach, we teach for the Glory of God. Children must understand that they are in the foundation stages of their lives. They are like athletes who have just started running and need to establish a suitable pace and create momentum. They must run according to the rules so that they will get their prize, and as they run they must run for the purpose of glorifying their Father in heaven (2 Cor. 3:18).

“Jesus grew in both wisdom and stature, gaining both favour with God and other people” (Luke 2:52). We believe that our children should grow in these four areas:

Grow in wisdom (Prov. 2:1-5).
Grow in stature (1 Cor. 3:16-17).
Grow in favour with God (Jer. 29:11).
Grow in favour with others (Josh. 1-9).

God wants us to grow up like Christ in everything (Eph. 4:15). Our [...]

Games’ Day is a fun and exciting day which can reach out to children in any community, with our aim of the day being: “winning the lost children for Christ”. Churches who would like to invite more children to their children’s ministry should consider having a Games’ Day. We will help any church with the arrangements of such a day and we will bring all the equipment and expertise needed to run a successful program. On the day, we brief your team, so that together we can make it a truly unforgettable experience for the children attending. Alternatively, some churches opt to hold one to just be a day of fun and games to treat the children and your staff already attending and working in their Sunday services. "Shawn has the ability to play the games children love to play and manage to keep them in play through variety and alternation. The equipment of Grow for Glory is child-friendly, professional and safe. I can recommend Shawn as a great asset to the world and minds of children!"Dr. Chris Harris, NG Hulp & Hoop Gemeenskapskerk, Mokopane. Evangelism within Schools As a successor to the Pre-School Bible Clubs, the Kruger Park primary school extra curriculum co-ordinator asked us to consider if we would like to develop a pro [...]

If Grow for Glory is to share as a ministry in the suffering of Christ, we need to identify ourselves with the church of Christ. Therefore, Grow for Glory should be a ministry to the church, Christ’s body (Eph. 1:22-23), so that we can be an effective ministry for Christ (Matt. 25:40). We are therefore called and trained to help local and international children’s ministries and churches to build their capacity and inspire and equip them to work effectively with children in their local context. Teambuilding and Leadership training We have found that a lot of volunteers feel that they are not making a difference in the lives of the children they minister to. Our Teambuilding Program was designed by us and comprises a wide range of themed activities, challenges and games that are tailored for leaders and teams working in children’s ministry, to equip and encourage them through inspirational activities. It forms part of the Fun and Games seminar, or it could be done separately. The aim of this training module is to teach leaders how to build relationships and connect with children using fun and games as a ministry tool. If it is practical tools you need to advance the learning and development of your team or children, this is a [...]

I was asked this question several years ago and it was a very powerful question for me so I wanted to share it with you.

Like you, I was already an engaged and connected parent; however, taking a few minutes to actually write down my vision for my kids enabled me to see areas where I was spending a lot of time and areas where I wanted to focus more.

Although we can’t guarantee how our kids will “turn out”

Dreams often get a bad rap – “Be realistic”, “Get your head out of the clouds”, “Live in the real world”…

The myth we often hear is that dreaming is irresponsible, unrealistic, and unreasonable.

But did you realize that our world is built on dreams!

Throughout history, humans have made the once “impossible”, possible – from electricity, to airplane flight, to cell phones, to open heart surgery – impossible [...]

Although we can’t guarantee how our kids will “turn out”, every interaction we have with them does shape their lives – especially when they are young and their core thoughts and belief systems are being formed.

I would like to invite you to spend about 10 minutes today thinking about this question and creating a vision for your parenting if you don’t already have one.

As part of the exercise, you may want to use the “Balance Wheel”.  The Balance Wheel is a coaching tool [...]

Does Your Child Have Yo-Yo Self-Esteem?

Does your child’s self-esteem rise and fall with the grades she makes?

Does your child’s self-esteem rise and fall depending on who played with him at school that day?

Does your child’s self-esteem crumble if he makes a mistake?

If so, then your child is suffering from yo-yo self-esteem — self-esteem that rises and falls with the ups and downs of life.

How kids feel about themselves often depends on what is going on in their life – what is going on outside of them.

However, powerful self-esteem isn’t based on what is going on outside of you (what is happening in your life). Powerful self-esteem is based on what is going on inside of you — who you are and how you think about yourself.

When kids base their self-esteem on “who they are” then their self-esteem can remain intact no matter what is going on in their [...]

Children’s ministry is the major focus of our future short-term mission trips. There is a great need to help the Indian churches to train their children’s ministry staff. Grow for Glory believes that children are the greatest audience to minister to. Statistics show that 85% of people who come to Christ do so before the age of 18. The ground is prepared, the seed needs to be sown and the world has to get ready for the biggest harvest that the world of evangelism has ever seen.We have found that sport is a safe and quick way to connect with unreached people groups around the world. Sport has proven to be one of the most effective relationship-building tools in the growth of the Gospel.  We use sport that is played and admired by the local communities and also introduce new games that make the program more effective and engaging.Grow for Glory believes that education is a child’s gateway to freedom and a secure future. Therefore, we support ministry partners in India who run sustainable literacy programs and day care centres. Most parents are uneducated and cannot help their children with their homework, hence there is great need for such centres. This is also a sheltered environment in which to introduce the Gospel to children from [...]
