“Jesus grew in both wisdom and stature, gaining both favour with God and other people” (Luke 2:52).
We believe that our children should grow in these four areas:
Grow in wisdom (Prov. 2:1-5).
Grow in stature (1 Cor. 3:16-17).
Grow in favour with God (Jer. 29:11).
Grow in favour with others (Josh. 1-9).
It is a fact that our children won’t grow in any one area without also improving in the others. This is particularly true when growing in favour with God – it dramatically improves function in all other areas. What we aim to teach, we teach for the Glory of God. Children must understand that they are in the foundation stages of their lives. They are like athletes who have just started running and need to establish a suitable pace and created momentum. They must run according to the rules so that they will get their prize, and as they run they must run for the purpose of glorifying their Father in heaven.
Glory as they walk humbly with God (1 Thess. 2:12).
Glory as they obey (2 Cor. 19:13).
Glory as they hold on to the truth (Jn. 1:14).
Glory in the hope of Christ’s triumphant return (Rev. 1:13-18).
“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth” (Ps. 127:4, NKJV).
Our intention is to be to be expert archers as we point the children in the right direction and hit the bull’s eye for the Kingdom and the Glory of the Lord. Children who grow in Godly character and become lifelong disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. We want kids to know, love and serve God.
